What are Scones?

Scones are the best buddies to pair with tea, usually made with flour and leavened with baking powder. They can be made with various flavoring and ingredients like raisin scone, cranberries scone, plain vanilla scones, etc. or you can always glaze them.
This is the recipe for one of the easiest cranberry scones to pair with your evening tea. The recipe calls for very few basic ingredients from your pantry and they always turns out absolutely amazing.

Ingredients needed to make cranberry scones

Self-raising flour: Self-rising flour makes wonderful scones but if you prefer you can always use all-purpose flour.
Baking powder: Leavening agent for scones.
Sugar: Any kind of plain granulated sugar.
Butter: Cold butter preferably unsalted.
Buttermilk: Adds a nice texture to the scones.
Vanilla extract: For flavors, you can omit if desired.
Cranberry: Fresh, frozen, or dried cranberries.

How to make Cranberry scones?


Step 1 Make dough- In a mixing bowl add 2 cups flour, baking powder, and sugar. Rub in the butter and keep mixing until it becomes like bread crumbs.
Add buttermilk, vanilla, and cranberries.
Knead the dough by adding the rest of the 1/2 cup flour.

Step 2 Shape the scones-Transfer on a board and roll onto a round shape. Cut 8 scones and brush them with milk.

Step 3 Bake– Arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Sprinkle some granulated sugar and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 25 minutes.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the scones smeared with butter and or jam. Pair with a cup of tea or coffee.
