Coffee Phirni

Coffee Phirni is a creamy and tasty coffee-flavored rice pudding. This phirni taste absolutely divine when served chilled.

What is Phirni?

Phirni or firni is a classic Indian style rice pudding made with boiled milk and rice powder. It is normally served with chopped nuts and dried fruits in earthern pots. When it comes about flavorings the options are endless.

Other than popular cardamom, saffron, mango or rose flavor, I have made this phirni with a hint of coffee. If you love coffee than you are definitely going to love this fusion dessert.

Ingredients for Coffee Phirni

  • First, Rice powder-Normally rice powder is used to make phirni but I have used coarsely ground rice as I like a bit of texture in my phirni.
  • Sugar-White sugar is used in the recipe but you may also add honey.
  • Coffee-Instant coffee powder

Looking for a Fusion dessert? Then this coffee phirni is just for you!

How to make Coffee Phirni?

First of all soak rice powder in water for few minutes. Now heat milk in a heavy bottom pan, bring it to boil and then keep the heat on low. Start adding rice powder while continuous stirring as we don’t want any lumps in our firni.

Keep stirring and cook on low until it starts thickening, add sugar and coffee powder. Let it cook for few minutes more and then remove from heat.

Pour in serving dishes and keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
