Capsicum bhaji is crispy deep-fried capsicum pakodas coated in spicy gram flour batter. It capsicum bhaji makes a wonderful tea time snack.
What is Capsicum Bhajji?
Capsicum bhaji is like any other bhaji made with capsicums, coated in gram flour and spices and deep-fried until crispy. The only thing that makes it more crispy is the addition of rice flour. Capsicum bhaji is very popular in South India and can be found on streets along with onion bhaji, Mirchi bhaji, and cabbage bhaji.
Basic Ingredients for Bhajji:
- Firstly, Capsicum-Green color capsicum tastes better in the dish but you may use any of your choices.
- Onions-To add some texture in the bhajji.
- Rice flour-It helps to make crispier bhajji.
- Besan/Chickpea flour-The main binding ingredient to hold the shape of the bhajji.
How to make Capsicum Bhaji?
Well, basically it is the easiest recipe of all, you just need the slice or chop the vegetables in the desired shape, make a batter of gram flour and spices and drop the bhajis in hot oil.
The main thing to keep in mind is to fry the bhaji on medium heat and drain on the paper towel to remove excess oil.
What to serve the capsicum bhaji with?
Capsicum bhaji can be served with tomato ketchup, mint chutney, tomato onion chutney or coconut chutney. However, I prefer my bhaji’s with a cup of tea and some tamarind chutney.
