Pav bhaji is originated in Maharashtra, India, and is a most popular snack of all metropolitan cities throughout the country. It is very easy to make at home and tastes heavenly.
Pav Bhaji is the popular street food of Mumbai, Gujarat and many other parts of India. It is prepared with a blend of vegetables cooked in tomato onion gravy and seasoned with pav bhaji masala. The masala is another flavorful spice mix that we get in local food stores. We can also make it at home and I will try to post the recipe for it soon. Pav Bhaji
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of each roughly chopped vegetables pumpkin,carrots,eggplant,peas,ridge gourd,capsicum,potato,cauliflower,cucumber,beans
- 2 tomatoes pureed
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 2 green chillies chopped
- few coriander leaves chopped
- 1 stick butter
- 2 teaspoon oil
- 2 tablespoon pav bhaji masala
- 1 teaspoon red chilly powder
- salt to taste
- water as required
Instructions
- Boil vegetables with a cup of water and a pinch of salt.Once cooked mash them firmly with ladle or pulse in blender to make a coarse paste.
- Heat butter in a pan with oil(prevents burning of butter) and add chopped onions,sauté for 2 minutes and then add ginger and green chillies.
- To this add red chilly powder , salt and pureed tomatoes, cook until oil comes out.
- Add pav bhaji masala and vegetable mash, cook for 15 minutes. Garnish with coriander and butter
- Serve with pav bread. Enjoy

you may use your choice of vegetables.
