Potato Peas Sandwich | Aloo Matar Toast

Aloo matar toast or potato peas stuffed sandwich is a favorite breakfast recipe for many North Indian families. It’s the perfect staple food to grab on weekends. The art work in the plate is done by my little daughter.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 sandwich bread slice
  • 4 potatoes boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 green chilli chopped
  • 2 tablespoon raisins
  • 1/ teaspoon cumin seeds

Spices

  • 1/ teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup coriander leave chopped
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a wok, add cumin seeds and ginger. Sauté for a minute.
  • Add onion, green chillies and peas. Stir for 5 minutes.
  • Add all spices and salt. Mix in potatoes and raisins. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Take a bread slice and apply a heap of potato stuffing. Cover it with another slice. Apply some butter on both sides and grill or roast in a non-stick pan.
  • Serve hot with ketchup and tea.

Notes

Add any other vegetables along with potatoes to make the toast more delicious.
