Day 3 Navratri Thali and Kuttu Tikki Recipe

Jump to Recipe    ||   Print Recipe

Day 3 of Navratri thali with some delicious and gluten-free Saatvik recipes.

In the thali it was

Kuttu Tikki (Recipe below)

Kuttu Dosa

Jeera Aloo

Paneer Kheer

Mint Chutney ( minus garlic)

Masala Buttermilk

I always make Kuttu Tikki once or twice during the nine days of fasting as my girls love it. Back in India, I had a few options and I used to make Rajgira Tikki, Swang Tikki and sometimes singhara tikki.

But here we only get buckwheat flour so I have to use this flour only or Sabudana to make the Tikkis. Nevertheless, they taste amazing with falaari aloo and mint chutney.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups buckwheat flour
  • 6 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • rock salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon amchoor powder
  • oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl add potatoes, green chilli, coriander leaves, ginger, amchoor powder, and salt.
  • Mix well until combined. Add in buckwheat flour and mix gently until a dough forms. Do not add water.
  • Heat oil in a wok or pan on medium hot.
  • Make small patties in between your palms, apply some water to wet your palms before making the patties.
  • Deep fry the tikki until golden and crispy from both sides. Drain on paper towel and set aside.
  • Serve hot with mint chutney.

Notes

While making the dough for tikki do no add any water.
If the dough sticks on your hand while making tikki, apply some water on your palms just before making them.
Make the dough right when you are ready to serve or else it will leave the water and will be useless.
Try to flatten the tikki in your palms or else they will remain uncooked in the center.
