My daughter is studying in I standard . She has given a routine activity manual from school for extra curricular activities. Today she has to brought nutritious meal in lunch and said few lines about it. I was thinking what to prepare early in the morning which has bucket of health benefits ,suddenly I recall about my broken wheat . I still brush up how my granny used to made broken wheat in her own wheat mill. Those were fabulous days and can’t be forgotten. I thought what could be more healthy than wheat porridge whose health benefits are infinite. So I have quickly made this and of course tried to made her learn few lines about it . Hope she should say her lines properly and got good grades for that. So let’s start the recipe.yum
Ingredients:
1 cup broken wheat (Dalia)
4 cup milk
1 teaspoon fennel seeds (Saunf)
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoon raisins
Method:
Heat a big heavy bottom wok , add broken wheat and dry roast for 5-7 minutes on low heat . Keep aside.
Add 4 cups of milk in a pressure cooker , add fennel seeds and roasted broken wheat. Close the lid and cook for 2 whistles.
Open the lid and add sugar , cook for 5 minutes on low heat till sugar dissolves in porridge. Add 1 cup more milk at this stage if it seems too thick. Add raisins over top before serving.
Serve hot or chilled.
Serve-2. Cooking time-20 -25 minutes
Note: You may cook it in an open vessel too.
Add sugar as per your taste buds.
Addition of chopped apple , banana or any seasonal fruit increases its taste twice.
