A comforting and filling millets khichdi made with Kodo millet, moong dal, and minimal spices. This is just perfect to finish on cold winter days with a dollop of ghee.

Millets Khichdi

I have had this ack of Kodo millets that needs to be used up soon. That’s when the idea of khichdi came up in existence. I followed my regular moong chilka dal khichdi recipe and made this variation using Kodo millets along with some onions and tomatoes.

I knew I had to improvise the regular khichdi otherwise girls won’t taste it. Thankfully the addition of onions and tomatoes made this khichdi more delicious and the girls ate it with so much pleasure.

We, adults, had the khichdi with mint chutney and yogurt and we all had a satisfying and delicious dinner after a heavy and elaborate weekend lunch.

For me, khichdi is the most comforting one-pot meal that I love to make any time, or some lazy days when I don’t feel like cooking. Whether it is Bajra Khichdi, easy peasy Masala Oats Khichdi, super delicious Toor Dal Khichdi, or fasting special Samak ki Khichdi, we just love them all.

BTW..What is kodo millet called in hindi. I tried to find on google and came to know that it is grown in India too.
