Matar Gobi Pulav

Matar gobi pulav is the most comforting food in our house during winters. I just can’t stop being addicted to this. It just takes a few minutes to cook and ready to eat.

Basic Ingredients for Pulav:

The basic ingredients needed to make matar gobi pulav are listed below.

  • Firstly, Basmati rice-Use basmati rice to make pulav as it taste better with basmati rice.
  • Peas-Fresh or frozen any kind would be fine to use in the recipe.
  • Cauliflower- Small florets of cauliflower are needed.
  • Spices- Few basic spices along with some whole ones.
  • Oil-To cook rice

How to make matar gobi pulav?

To make matar gobi pulav all you need to do is cook onions in oil, add spices and cook tomatoes and green chilli until soft.

Now add in the peas and cauliflower, mix well and cook for 2 minutes, top it up with washed and drained basmati rice, add more water, adjust seasoning and pressure cook for one whistle.

If you are using simple pot pan then cook on low medium heat until water is absorbed and rice are cooked.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve the matar gobi pulav with raita, chutney, salad , pickle and or masala chaas (Like I love to enjoy).

  • Pressure Cooker

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cup rice
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1/2 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 to mato chopped
  • 2 green chilly chopped
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leave
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • a pinch asafetida
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilly powder
  • 4 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cups water or as required

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker add asafoetida, cumin seeds, cinnamon and bay leaf,sauté for 2 minutes.Add chopped onion,sauté till golden color appears.
  • Add all spices and salt, add cauliflower and peas and tomato green chilies, stir and mix till oil comes out.
  • Add rice and 2 cups of water ,cook for one whistle and let it be in pressure till steam evaporates.
  • Open lid and serve hot with chutney and salad.

Notes

  1. Adjust the spices as per your taste.
  2. The amount of water needed to make rice depends on the quality and quantity of rice.
