This is a perfect , full of flavors one pot meal to enjoy with family in this Rainy season. Yes , believe me we did enjoy this aromatic and wonderful dish yesterday. Kabuli chana Pulav is a national Afganisthani dish made with steamed rice , chickpeas and lamb . I have prepared it my way and get a good feedback from family. So let’s start the recipe .yum My daughter loved it and want to take it in tiffin.
Ingredients:
1 cup White Chickpea /Garbanzo / Kabuli Chana , boiled or canned
2 cup Rice
2 onions , sliced
3 tomatoes , chopped
4 green chilly , chopped
2 teaspoon ginger, sticks
Whole spices:
1 bay leave
2 green cardamom
1 black cardamom
1 cinnamon stick
4 cloves
4 Peppercorn
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
Spices:
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 teaspoon red chilly powder
2 teaspoon coriander powder
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 cup Canola/vegetable oil
Method:
Wash and soak chickpea in enough water for 4-5 hours or overnight. Boil with a pinch of turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt in pressure cooker for 5 whistles.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker or non stick pan . Add cumin seeds and all the whole spices. Sauté for 1 minute.
Add onions and fry them in the oil till dark brown in color.
Now add all spices and salt , mix well.
Add chopped tomatoes and green chilly. Sauté till tomatoes are tender and oil comes out from edges.
Add wash and drained rice in it.
Now add in the cooked chickpea and 4 cup of water. Cook for 1 whistle in cooker or till done in the pan.
Serve hot with pickle and salad.
