Jazar Halwa

We are in the last week of BM#48 and my theme for the week is Arabian Cuisine. For the first day I made Omani Jazar Halwa or carrot halwa . There is nothing special or new in this halwa except the addition of sweetened condensed milk. This is the first time I used condensed milk in carrot halwa and I must say it gave a rich texture to the halwa.

So let’s start the recipe.yum

Ingredients:

1 kg carrots
1cup milk
1tin Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 tablespoon ghee /clarified butter

To garnish
Few pistachio ,chopped
Few almonds,chopped
Few raisins

Method:

Wash ,peel and grate carrots .Add the carrots to the milk in a deep pan and bring to boil.

Cook on a slow flame with continuous stirring till milk dries up.

Add the Sweetened Condensed Milk, mix well and cook on a slow flame till it becomes dry.

Add the ghee, mix well and cook for another 10 minutes.

Garnish with pistachio ,almonds and raisins and serve hot.

Enjoy!!
