Black Eyed Peas Chaat | Lobia Chaat

A healthy and super filling black-eyed peas chaat with lots of vegetables, spices, and tangy lemon juice. This is a perfect mid-day meal or evening snack.

Another week of Protein Rich dishes is starting with this tangy and lip smacking lobia chaat. Whenever I boil beans like black eyed peas, black chickpea, white chickpea or kidney beans I would always keep a bowl or two of it aside before making curry. Later on, I’d make this savory and mouth-watering chaat for girls and me for our evening snack before dinner.

As for we girls of the house, we love this quick fix and filling chaat but Mr. H totally hates it. He doesn’t even want to try it, tells me he won’t want to eat the beans in any other form than curries. It’s really hard to make him agree to taste anything if he doesn’t want to.

Below are the protein-rich recipes that I made last two weeks.

Week 1

Quinoa and Oats Porridge

Silken Smoothie

Week 2

Masala Oats

Coconut Chia  Granola

Savory Pancakes

Moong Dal Kachori

Kuzhi Paniyaram

Lemon Buttermilk Cake

  1. Sapna , I do just the same ! I too remove some boiled Chole , raajma etc to make a salad . It’s a perfect way to indulge into chats , maintaining our protein . Excellent platter with lobhia .

  2. I can completely relate to what you are saying. I could never make him eat something if he doesn’t want to. Between the chat looks really colourful and it is great that kids do enjoy this nutritious chat.

  3. That chaat version of the salad looks very appealing. Here too my husband doesn’t like if we deviate from the traditional ways of serving some dishes especially if the deviation has raw veggies in it!

I guess it is difficult to change the mind set right! The name chaat itself is enough to tempt me and with the healthy load of ingredients looks delicious!
