Basic Ingredients for Banana bread:
- First, Bananas- Use those overripe bananas.
- Wheat flour-Plain wheat flour or all-purpose flour
- Jaggery- I have used jaggery in the recipe. You can use any sweetener of your choice.
- Walnuts-You may add any other nuts of your choice.
How to make whole wheat banana bread?
This is one of the simplest bread recipes/, all you need to do is mash banana and add the rest of the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Now gently fold in all ingredients to combine. Preheat the oven to 180° C and bake the bread for about 35 to 40 minutes. Bake the cake for 40-45 minutes. Check with a skewer if the bread is done or not. Insert in the center of the bread and if it comes out clean the bread is ready.
One important thing to make sure is to cool the bread completely before slicing.
Serve the cake with tea, coffee or milk and enjoy.

Whole Wheat Jaggery Banana Bread
Equipment
- Loaf tin
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup plain wheat flour
- 2 bananas
- 1/2 cup jaggery grated
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoon cocoa powder optional
- 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 ° C and line a 7″ loaf tin with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, mash bananas with fork or potato masher.
- Add in oil and buttermilk. Stir and add jaggery.
- Now add baking soda, baking powder, flour, cocoa powder, and walnuts (save some to use as topping).
- Gently mix everything to combine well.
- Transfer the batter into a lined loaf tin.
- Tap on the kitchen counter to remove air bubbles. Sprinkle some walnuts on top.
- Bake in preheated oven for about 35 to 40 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool before slicing.
