Matar paneer curry is famous in all over India. It is a popular main course dish with a rich blend of spices. This curry happens to be one of my favorite dish and today I am sharing my recipe for the same.
Matar Paneer is very simple to make and doesn’t require too many efforts. You can please your guest by serving this rich gravy with some steaming hot rice or naans.
Matar Paneer
A very delicious paneer and green peas curry made with tomato onion gravy.
Ingredients
- 1 cup peas fresh or frozen
- 250 g cottage cheese/paneer cut in cubes
- 2 cups tomato paste
- 1 cup onion paste
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 2 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon dried methi/kasuri methi
- 2 teaspoon green chilly finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoon coriander powder
- salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon kashmiri mirch powder
- 2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1/4 cup coriander leaves chopped (I didn't use)
- 4 tablespoon oil
- water as required
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry cottage cheese in oil and keep in the refrigerator for some time.
- In to the same oil add Kasuri methi, onion, garlic, ginger paste and sauté until it becomes golden brown. Add all spices and salt except garam masala powder and sauté for two minutes.
- Add chopped chillies, tomatoes and stir, add peas and again stir, then add 4 cups of water.Cover the lid and let it boil for some time till peas are done and a gravy starts forming.
- Add fried cottage cheese and cook for two minutes.
- Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with naan, or rice
