Turkish Sekerpare

For this week of BM#49 ,I will be posting three deserts recipe from this list and for the first day I made sekerpare.
Şekerpare is one of the many delectable and popular desserts in the Turkish cuisine It is mainly prepared by baking some soft balls of pastry dipped in thick sugar syrup, şekerpare has become one of the famous Turkish dessert.

This mouth-watering traditional dessert will surely satisfy anyone who has an appetite for baked pastries soaked in the sweetness of a pool of syrup.


So let’s start the recipe.yum

Ingredients:

For syrup
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup water

For cookies
1 cup plain flour
1/4 cup fine semolina
1/4 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Yoghurt
1/4 cup Butter
1 teaspoon Baking soda
Almonds for topping

Method:
Boil water and sugar and let it simmer boil for 10 minutes more.Set it aside to cool.
Preheat oven to 160 degrees.Grease a baking tray with butter.
Melt the butter and beat it with sugar.
Add yoghurt ,flour, semolina and baking soda.Mix well until combined.
Make small balls and press in between palms to make cookies.
Arrange on baking tray and top each cookie with almonds.Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden in color.

Pour the sugar syrup on warm cookies.Let the syrup absorbed in cookies for few minutes.

Serve and enjoy!!


Serve-16 cookies. Baking time-25 minutes
