Stuffed bread pakoras are famous Indian street food loved by all age groups. The stuffing can vary from potatoes to Cottage cheese as per choice. I still remember , when I was in college we (me and my buddies) always get hungry as soon as we get there .The first thing we all do before attending lecture is to eat these potato stuffed bread pakora from our life savor college canteen. Yesterday my daughter asked to make bread pakora and I made them with spicy potato stuffing. It tastes good and enjoyed by all in breakfast.So let’s start the recipe .yum
Ingredients
12 sandwich bread slices
Oil for frying
For batter
1.5 cup gram flour
Salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon red chilly powder
1/2 teaspoon carom seeds
2 cup water
For potato stuffing
2 big potatoes , boiled and peeled
1 green chilly , chopped
1/2 cup coriander leaves , chopped
1/2 teaspoon ginger , grated
Spices:
1/2 pinch asefetida
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon red chilly powder(optional)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon Dried mango powder/ lemon juice
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Method:
Mix all the ingredients under ” for batter” in a bowl .Add water slowly with continuous stirring to avoid lumps.
For potato stuffing:
Heat oil in a pan , add green chilly ,Asefetida ,cumin seeds and ginger.Stir for 1/2 minute.
Add all spices and salt , mix and add smashed potatoes.
Add chopped coriander leaves , and press gently with spatula to get mashed potatoes stuffing.Cook for 5 minutes and set aside.
For Bread pakoras:
Cut the edges of bread slice with knife and cut each slice into a triangular shape.Place a spoonful of potato stuffing on bread , cover it with other slice and press the edges gently. ( Or simply cut the edges and place stuffing in center of bread slice, fold and press the edges).
Heat oil for frying in a wok .Dip the potato stuffed bread slice in gram flour batter and transfer to hot oil carefully .
Fry from both sides till golden in color. Drain on paper towel .
Serve hot with mint chutney , ketchup and tea.
Serve-12 in no’s Cooking time-30 minutes
Note: Sieve gram flour for better results.
Fry 2-3 bread pakora at a time , don’t fry them all together.
You can add amount of stuffing as your choice .
First fry them on low heat and as they started turning golden in color, turn high heat and quickly take them out.

Thanks Akila! No worries it will not absorb oil if you cover it properly in batter from all sides and keep the heat a little high before removing from oil. Draining on paper towel will remove excess oil .
