Mysore Pak ~ II

I had already posted Mysore Paak on my blog few months back . When I was looking for a recipe to be posted for this week’s BM#47 theme under Indian sweets , I found this quick recipe for the same in a cooking book . The method of preparation was a slight different from the one I made earlier. But I like the idea of roasting the gram flour before adding it to the sugar syrup. It was made really quick as I recall when I first made Mysore Paak it took more than an hour or so .

If you want to enjoy this classic delicacy I would highly recommended you to try this recipe. So let’s start.yum

Ingredients:
200 gm Besan/Gram flour
200 gm Ghee/Clarified butter
300 gm sugar
1 1/2 cup water
2 green cardamom ,crushed
Few pistachios,sliced (optional)

Method:
In a non stick pan or wok add besan and ghee. Roast the ghee on medium low heat until slightly browned in color.
Switch off the flame , meanwhile boil water and sugar together in a bowl.
Add cardamom in it and boil it for 5-7 minutes more.
To this boiling syrup add roasted besan cook till all water is absorbed and a thick mixture is formed. Keep stirring continuously to avoid burning from the base.
Add sliced pistachios and pour it in a greased tray.

Cool and cut into pieces.

Enjoy!!

Serve -20 pieces. Cooking time-20minutes

Note:Try to use heavy bottom vessel for syrup as you are gonna cook the flour in the syrup.
