Garlic Chilly Chutney

It’s often when we eat food with same taste everyday , we need a change , we need to try something new, we need to have something that rejuvenate our taste buds with mouth watering effect. Something that make your simple food exotic…thinking this I tried to prepare Garlic Chilly Chutney. It is commonly prepared in South India. Adding a distinct aroma and flavor to the food garlic is also used in herbal medicine as relieving agent from hypertension etc. so when you feel stressed and tired and not feeling energetic to prepare your meal. You may try this simple recipe of chutney. This you can use as a spread over bread, pizza base or sandwich ,filling space of a complete food. So let’s start with recipe. Yum

Ingredients:
Garlic pods-2
Dried red chilly-12-15 in no.
Ginger-a very small piece
Dried pomegranate seeds powder(anardana powder)- 2 tsp
Lemon Juice-2 tbsp
Yoghurt-2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Vegetable oil-2 tbsp
Asafetida-1/2 pinch
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Curry leaves- 4 to 6
Water -1 cup

Method:

Boil 1 cup water in a pan and dip dried red chillies in it for 2 hours.
Heat oil in a pan,add garlic cloves ,sauté for 5 minutes till becomes golden.Drain on paper towel.Keep the oil left after frying garlic cloves for further use.
Take fried garlic cloves,soaked dried chillies,ginger,salt,lemon juice,yoghurt and dried pomegranate powder in a bowl.
Blend to a fine paste in blender.
Heat oil in a pan and add asafetida,mustard seeds and curry leaves.Add this tempering to blended chutney.

Store in refrigerator and can be used  for one week. Enjoy with Bread, Rice, Upma or Paratha.

Serve -4.     Prep time-10 minutes
