Yesterday we enjoyed these crispy and spicy Arbi ke Dahi wale pakodas or Colocasia fritters in yoghurt based marination. A perfect tea time snack that will make you love arbi (Taro Roots). The crispy texture followed by softness of taro roots giving a mixed sweet spicy taste and make them a real treat for guests also. So let’s start the recipe .Yum
Ingredients
250 gm Arbi ( colocassia ) , boiled and peeled
1/4 cup gram flour /Besan
1/2 cup Yoghurt/curd
2-3 Garlic cloves , grated
1 teaspoon ginger , grated
2 green Chili , chopped
1/4 teaspoon carom seeds
1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon dried mango powder/Amchur
Few Coriander leaves , chopped
Vegetable Oil for frying +1 tablespoon
Method:
Press the boiled and peeled colocasia in palms and set aside.
In a bowl take ginger, garlic , coriander leaves, Green chilli , Gram flour ,salt and red chilli powder. Add yoghurt and mix thoroughly.
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a frying pan and add carom seeds , sauté and add gram flour and curd mixture in it. Cook for 1 minute and remove from heat.
Roll the Colocasia in it and let it marinade for 1 hour .
Heat oil in a wok , Fry the colocasia from both sides till crispy , drain on paper towel , sprinkle mango powder and serve hot.
Serve-2. Cooking time -20 minutes.
Notes: Make sure oil is hot enough or else it will stick to the bottom.
