Basic White Sauce Recipe– There is nothing better than a good batch of easy homemade basic white sauce recipe. This white sauce is perfect for a variety of Italian pasta and other gourmet recipes.

I followed the recipe from BBC Food Recipes and love the versatility of it. I mean you can do so many things with this simple basic sauce. To be frank my family is a red sauce loving one and they never let me try the white sauce like ever.

So this time I made the basic white sauce and whipped up a nice macaroni pasta for them. I did not tell that it was white sauce rather I told my girls that it was white cheese which is melted. Thankfully they did not suspect anything and enjoyed the pasta to the core.

For my girls, it was a finger-licking thumbs up kind of dish but surely I am going to take some time to like the taste of the white sauce, I guess it is an acquired taste. Let’s see how long will it take!

  1. A simple, easy and a versatile sauce. It looks so creamy and rich and must have tasted wonderful with a bowl of pasta. Off course, with an extra day of pepper flakes

  2. True it’s difficult for a red sauce person to adapt to white sauce. But this looks so yummy and I am sure it must have tasted very nice too. I loved you idea of saying the kids that it is white cheese.

  3. Yes, this white sauce is a versatile once. Even without cheese, it gives just a cheesy texture to the pasta dish. My DH loves white sauce pasta and I prefer red sauce. So, I make pasta with both sauces often.

  5. I liked that you added wheat flour. I usually avoid pasta with white sauce knowing that it is refined flour. WIll check this one for sure.
