I have seen these crunchy-munchy onion rings on a show Chuck’s Day Off on TLC and since then I was waiting to give it a try but never got time. Finally today I tried these rings for BM#33 Special Theme. I have adapted the recipe from Gayatri’s Cook Spot and added one additional ingredient “Eno fruit salt” . Actually I have seen Chuck adding Soda water in the rings to make them more crunchier. So I decided to give them my own twist. Trust me the result was outstanding and you know what? my family just loved it. They liked onion rings so much that they asked to make some more. But as the price of onion are raising rapidly in Delhi, India, I have to stop after making few rings. So let’s start the recipe . Yum
Ingredients:
2 Onion, medium sized
1/2 cup All purpose Flour
1/4 cup Corn Flour
3/4 cup Milk
Salt to taste
1/4 teaspoon Pepper Corn , crushed
1 cup bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon eno fruit salt
Enough Oil for frying
Method:
In a bowl mix all purpose flour, corn flour, salt, pepper corn and milk. Whisk together till a smooth batter formed.
Peel onion skin and cut into two halves and separate the rings and set aside.
Add eno fruit salt in batter , mix well. Dip each ring in the batter and coat with bread crumbs. Heat oil in a pan deep fry rings in batches until golden and crispy from both sides.
Drain on paper towel and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
Serve-2. Cooking time -25 minutes
