Wine cake or torta negra is a cake made with wine and is popular in Colombian cuisine. This cake has rich intense flavours and wonderful taste.
Yesterday I baked all four remaining letters for the ABC bake around the world together in one day. My kitchen was full of cakes and my girls were jumping with joy to see all those cakes. Because of the alcohol in the wine cake, I had to bake all the cakes together so I can satisfy my daughters with another non-alcohol cake or else they won’t let me click the pictures.
We don’t consume alcohol but do try having red wine every once in few months because of the health benefits. I had this red wine six months old and I wasn’t sure if it was spoiled or not. I googled and came to know the oldest the wine the better it is. I went ahead and used the red wine in making this cake which was perfectly baked.
I sliced the cake into small pieces and served them to me and my husband with our evening tea. We totally loved this flavorful and delicious wine cake.

Yes the wine and liquors always enhance the flavour of the cakes, but we can definitely substitute with strong juices . The wine cake looks wonderful.
Four cakes together sounds so much work!..I dread the clicking part the most..this wine cake has turned out so good..
That cake sounds so flavorful with the wine. Love the texture of the cake — soft and crumbly.
