Sikkim Veg Momos


Sikkimese cuisine is one of the popular cuisines coming from North-East India. Sikkimese are traditionally rice eaters. Sikkim is the only state in India with an ethnic Nepali majority and for this reason, Nepalese cuisine is very popular in Sikkim.For Sikkim state under Indian food odyssey I prepared veg stuffed momos . Momos are steamed dumplings stuffed with vegetables, meat or cheese in flour dough. I got the recipe from here .So let’s start the recipe .yum

Ingredients:
3/4 cup All purpose flour
Water as required
Salt to taste
2 teaspoon Oil

For stuffing:
1 cup cabbage,finely chopped
1/4 cup carrot , finely chopped
2 Spring onion,chopped
3-4 garlic cloves , chopped
1/2 teaspoon Pepper , crushed
2 teaspoon Soya sauce
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon Oil

Method:
Mix flour, salt and oil in a bowl and add water to make a smooth dough ,Keep aside and covered.
Heat oil in a pan , add garlic, and finely chopped spring onion. Give a stir in high flame. Add the chopped veggies, and fry in high flame for a minute.
Add salt, pepper, soy sauce and mix well. Switch off and keep aside.
Roll the dough into small and thin discs. Keep some stuffing in the centre of disc.
Fold it to make momo shapes.Steam it in a steamer spaced properly, for 5 -7 minutes.

Serve hot with garlic tomato chutney .

For chutney
Ingredients
:
2 tomatoes
8-10 garlic cloves
4-5 red chillies
Salt to taste

Method:
Grind all the ingredients together. Keep refrigerated till further use.

Serve-4 Cooking time -25 minutes
