Quinoa and Oats Porridge

A creamy and delicious quinoa and oats porridge topped with sliced peaches would make a nice and filling protein packed breakfast.

So why am I talking about protein all of a sudden, well it is another mega marathon; Yeah you read it right it is going to be a month of recipes which are protein packed. Like our previous edition of the mega marathon of A to Z baked dishes, this month there is no particular clause of alphabetical theme or so. The only thing needed is the recipe has to be made with a source of protein based ingredient.

At first, I chose to go for A to Z recipes but it didn’t plan out so well and had to skip it. Later I thought of making 26 recipes with tofu but again the family did not agree for that. Finally, I totally gave up and thought of only doing the day to day basis regular dishes that I make at home which has protein in it. I mean this time it’s going to be nothing special just regular daily cooking recipes from my kitchen.

Coming to the recipe, quinoa is quite new in my kitchen. In fact, this is the first recipe that I made using quinoa. The porridge tasted ice but has got an acquired taste because of the quinoa. All of us liked it except the elder one. She just couldn’t take the flavor and texture of quinoa and didn’t eat the porridge. But I guess it is kind of a good start if even if only three of us gave thumbs up to the grain.

Yes, quinoa is an acquired taste. Even my kids refused to eat it in when incorporated into a couple of dishes. This porridge looks very good with the fruits on top, Sapana.

  2. I love quinoa but have to agree that it’s an acquired taste, especially for kids. I serve quinoa just like I serve rice along with dal/sambar and veggies. Never tried in a porridge though. Looking forward to the rest of your recipes.

  3. Quinoa is one of the things I always come back with from my travels. I love using it in salads, porridge, sweet dishes. Once you get used to using it, its a very versatile and filling ingredient. Your porridge looks so inviting with the succulent peach slices.
