Aloo matar toast or potato peas stuffed sandwich is a favorite breakfast recipe for many North Indian families. It’s the perfect staple food to grab on weekends. The art work in the plate is done by my little daughter.
Aloo Matar Toast
A crispy and tasty toast sandwich made with spicy aloo matar filling.
Ingredients
- 8 sandwich bread slice
- 4 potatoes boiled and mashed
- 1/2 cup peas
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 green chilli chopped
- 2 tablespoon raisins
- 1/ teaspoon cumin seeds
Spices
- 1/ teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup coriander leave chopped
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a wok, add cumin seeds and ginger. Sauté for a minute.
- Add onion, green chillies and peas. Stir for 5 minutes.
- Add all spices and salt. Mix in potatoes and raisins. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
- Take a bread slice and apply a heap of potato stuffing. Cover it with another slice. Apply some butter on both sides and grill or roast in a non-stick pan.
- Serve hot with ketchup and tea.
Notes
Add any other vegetables along with potatoes to make the toast more delicious.

I can eat the filling without the bread. I love potatoes too much and when its cooked with spices and peas, the flavors are hard to resist.
Any time.. I can have them.. This is a filling breakfast or an evening snack too with a cup of hot tea..
Now who wont like this…I am sure I will loooove it 🙂
