Pita Bread


Pita bread is the leavened wheat flour bread served in Middle eastern as well as other countries of the world.It can be served with hummus , used to scoop dips or falafels and can be served rolled up with kebabs.

Ingredients:
For Pita Bread
1 cup Whole wheat flour+1 tablespoon for dusting
1/2 teaspoon Dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water

Method:
Add 2 tablespoon lukewarm water and sugar in yeast , let it proof for 5-7 minutes.
Take sifted flour and salt in a bowl , add olive oil and yeast water . Knead a firm dough using enough water. Cover it with kitchen towel and place in an oiled bowl and set in a warm place for 3-4 hours.
After the dough rises you may see cracks over the top , punch it back and make 8 balls from it.
Make small rounds of 1/4 ” thickness using dry flour and bake in preheated oven at 200 degree for 10-15 minutes.
Cool and cut into wedges.Serve with hummus.

Serve-4 Baking time-20 minutes
