Gram flour Chilla highly nutritious low calorie pancake , is a popular Indian street and fast food. Made from gram flour which is rich in carbohydrate and high proportion of protein. Chilla gives a unique crispy followed by soft texture in mouth and gives intense taste of spices. Normally Chilla is made with mix vegetables or cheese filling. I tried a different filling made with finely chopped mushrooms, another low calorie ingredient rich in vitamin B. One can imagine that how delicious these rolls would be giving a crunchy bite with soft and juicy mushrooms ,filling your mouth with a distinct aroma of spices. So lets start with recipe. Yum
Ingredients:
For Chilla batter:
Gram flour (besan)-2 cup
Red chilly powder-1/2 tsp
Garam masala-1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Carom seeds (aijwain)-1/2 tsp
For mushroom filing:
Button mushrooms ( finely chopped)- 2 cup
Onion ( finely chopped)- 1 cup
Green chilly (chopped)- 2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp
Tomato (chopped)-1 cup
Salt to taste
Red chilly powder- 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Cumin seed – 1/2 tsp
Mustard seed powder- 1/2 tsp
Vegetable oil-4 tsp
Method:
In a bowl mix all ingredients for Chilla batter, whisk thoroughly to avoid lumps. Left it to settle for 10 minutes.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan add cumin seeds and mustard powder, as popping starts add chopped onions and green chilly, sauté for 5 minutes.
Add ginger garlic paste, stir and add all spices and salt.Add chopped tomatoes and sauté for 5 minutes.
Now add chopped mushrooms and cook it for 5 minutes till water from mushrooms evaporates.
Heat a nonstick pan and spread 1/2 tsp of oil on it.
Pour 2 tbsp of Chilla batter and spread it gently with the help of spoon into round shape ( well now it’s your choice how large you want to make it).
Cook it from this side for 5 minutes and flip it to get both sides golden in color.
Now stuff with mushroom filling in the centre and roll it.

Let it cook for two minutes.
Serve- 3 Cooking time – 30 minutes.
