Masala Vada / Paruppu Vadai

Masala Vada is a popular South Indian savory snack which is famous  all over India. Normally prepared in houses but can be seen throughout the streets all over the day.  So let’s start the recipe .yum

Ingredients:
1 cup Chana Dal/Split Bengal Gram
2 Tablespoon Semolina/Rava/Suzi
2 teaspoon Fennel Seeds
2 Red Chillies
1 green Chilly
5-6 Garlic cloves
1 small piece Ginger
1/4 cup Coriander Leaves , chopped
1 onion , chopped
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon garam masala
Vegetable Oil for frying
Method:
Wash and soak chana dal for 2 to 3 hours . Drain  the water completely and keep aside. .Then grind chana dal to a coarse mixture make sure it should not be thick.

Grind together garlic, red chillies, ginger and fennel seeds in blender to form a paste. Set aside.

Add onions, Rava , coriander leaves,Garam masala ,  salt, garlic- fennel paste and mix well.

Do not add water, it will look crumbly but will get together easily. Make equal lemon sized small balls out of the mixture, and pat them on your palm to form a circle to medium thickness.

Heat oil in a Kadai/Wok and deep fry them till golden brown, turning over both sides. Drain on a paper towel.

Serve hot with tea and ketchup.

Serve-4.  Cooking time -25 minutes
Note:  Add more Suzi if the batter seems loose.
