Gulab Jamun is a cheese based dumpling immersed in rose water (Gulab) scented sugar syrup popular in Asian coutries like India, Pakistan,Srilanka and Bangladesh. Giving a brownish red shiny color with light cheesy texture in mouth filling with sudden flow of sweet juicy rose water syrup. Hmm yummy….So lets start the recipe. yum
Ingredients:
Milk powder-250 g(can be replaced with khoya)
All purpose flour(maida)-2 tbsp
Baking powder-1 tsp
Sugar-3 cup
Water-3 cup
Milk-1/2cup
Cardamom powder-1 tsp
Ghee or oil – for frying
Rose water essence-1 tsp
Chopped nuts-1/2 cup
Method:
Heat sugar with water in a pan ,add cardamom powder and boil till it becomes sticky to touch.Remove from heat and keep aside.
Sieve the flour,baking powder and add milk powder.Knead a soft dough with milk as needed. Divide the dough in 20 balls and keep aside.
Heat ghee in a large pan or kadahi ,fry the balls few at a time,over low heat till evenly cooked from both sides.Drain and soak in sugar syrup for 12 to 15 hours.
Garnish with chopped nuts and rose water essence.
Serve-20 pieces. Cooking time- 30 to 35 minutes
