But suddenly thought of my neighbor friend to rescue me . After doing all the steps of making lat breads , filling and coating , I went to her place and baked the crepes in her oven. Everything went fine and I offered her some chatti Patthiri , that was for Courtsey . She also liked it and admitted of never tasted such a dish .This sweet delicacy was something like Baklava but tasted amazingly wonderful . Thank you +Srivalli Jetti for the challenge and +Anita Menon for the recipe . So let’s start the recipe . Yum
Ingredients:
For the Pathiris:
1 cup All purpose flour
1/3 cup water , lukewarm
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
salt to taste
For the filling:
2 tablespoon clarified butter + 1 tsp extra for greasing the pan
200 g condensed milk , half tin
4 tablespoon black sesame seeds
7 tablespoon coconut, grated
3 tablespoon raisins
3 tablespoon cashew nuts, chopped
3 tablespoon almonds , chopped
4 tablespoon Poppy seeds
3 tablespoon cardamom powder
For Coating:
1 cup coconut milk
5 tablespoon powdered sugar
1 teaspoon cardamom powder
Method:
For the Pathiris
Take flour , oil and salt in a bowl and knead a dough . Keep it covered for half an hour.
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.Using a roller pin, roll it out into paper-thin chappaties/round flat bread of uniform size on a dusted flour board.
Heat a griddle and cook the round flat bread lightly on a tawa. Keep them aside.
For the filling:
Heat clarified butter in a pan . Add raisins, cashew nuts, poppy seeds, almonds, sesame seeds and sauté for a minute till golden brown . Add grated coconut and cardamom powder and cook for 1 minute.Add condensed milk and keep aside. Check the sweetness and add more condensed milk if required.
For the coating and the assembling.
Add cardamom powder and powdered sugar in coconut milk and keep aside.
Grease a baking tray or pan as per the size of flatbreads you have prepared.
Keep one flat bread in the bottom . Using a spoon sprinkle the condensed milk – nut filling on top of the flat bread.
Dip the second flat bread in the coconut milk and place it on top of the filling.
Spread the condensed milk -nut mixture again and repeat this until all the pathiris, the coconut milk mix and the nut mixture is used up and pathiri being the top layer.
Pour the remaining coconut milk mixture on top of pathiri to keep them moist. This is important to keep the Chatti Pathiri moist.
Bake in preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes or until golden.
Cool and cut in slices , decorate as per your choice and serve.
Enjoy!!
