For the last week of BM#36 under special theme we have to cook our online book marked recipes. This is my entry for the same .So let’s start the recipe. Yum
Ingredients:
1 kg Amla /Gooseberry
2 1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
10-15 strands Saffron
Method:
Wash and pat dry the amla . Take 1/2 cup of water in a microwave safe bowl and add amla in it . Microwave it on high for 10 minutes.Drain the water .(use this water for making pulav etc)
Remove from microwave and cut into slices , remove the seeds.
Add sugar in it and microwave again for 10 minutes . Frequent stirring is required in between after each 5 minutes.
Remove from microwave and make a purée of it with the help of hand blender.
Microwave it again for 10 to 15 minutes or till it reaches jam like consistency.
Remove from microwave , add saffron strands and microwave again for 1 minute.
Cool and store in sterilized glass jar.
Serve with bread or as it is with milk.
Serve-1 kg jam. Cooking time – 35 to 40 minutes
Note: Please adjust sugar as per taste as you prefer . Mine was not too sweet not too sour.
The time for Microwave depend on quantity . If you prepare wit 250 gm amla then set time accordingly.
It will stay fresh for 2-3 months in refrigerator.
