Candies are everyone’s favorite, and if it is beneficial for health, would be like icing on the cake. Amla or gooseberry candy is one such preparation that gives awesome taste and also provide health benefits. About its taste , out of the six recognized in Ayurveda, it contains five taste. Good for all three doshas Pitta ( acid) , Vata ( gas) and Kapha ( cough). Candy full of taste and giving exotic experience on your tongue added with cumin and ginger scrumptiousness. So lets start the recipe. Yum.
Ingredients:
250 gm Gooseberry
1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds powder
1 Teaspoon Dried ginger powder (Saunth)
150 gm Sugar
2 Tablespoon Sugar Powder
1/2 pinch edible food color(optional)
Method:
Wash and dry gooseberry with kitchen towel.Make cut marks in the lines present on gooseberry.
Boil enough water in a vessel ,add gooseberry ,boil for 2 minute and drain excess water.
Cut the gooseberry in slices.Add cumin powder and dried ginger powder over the top.
Cover it with sugar , close the lid and set aside.
Next day slices will float in sugar water.
On the third day slices will settle at bottom. Now filter the slices and collect the syrup ( store it in refrigerator and use it as Gooseberry Sherbet).
Dry these filtered slice in sunlight for two days.
Sprinkle sugar powder mixed with edible color of your choice and store it in air tight container.
Enjoy the candies formed.
Serve – 4 ( around 250 gm candies). Cooking time – 5 minutes
