Idlis are soft ,savory cakes,traditionally belongs to South Indian cuisine.Normally idlis are made from a fermented batter of rice and dehusked black lentils flour. Rava idli is quick recipe of idli and taste delicious.Today I am sharing this easy and quick recipe of healthy and yummy breakfast.So let’s start the recipe.yum
Ingredients:
For Idli batter:
Semolina(suzi or rava)-2 cup
Curd (sour)-1 cup (can use 3 cup sour buttermilk but in that case avoid water)
Water-2cup
Salt to taste
Green chillies(chopped)-1 tsp
Curry leaves (chopped)-1 tsp
For Tempering
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Dried whole red chilly -2
Red chilly powder-1 tsp
Curry leaves (chopped)-2 tsp
Method:
Mix all the ingredients for idli batter.
Whisk gently to avoid formation of lumps. Leave it for 6 to 8 hours to allow fermentation. Now grease idli mould and pour 1 tbsp of batter in each idli plate.
Steam it in steamer or cooker for 10 minutes.Carefully take out each idli from plate. Repeat the same process with remaining batter. Heat oil in a pan,add mustard seeds,cumin seeds.As popping starts add dried whole red chillies ,red chilly powder ,curry leaves and quickly remove from heat.
Pour this tempering over idlis before serving. Serve with sambhar and garlic or coconut chutney.You can eat as it is with any chutney or dip if don’t have time to cook sambhar.
Serve-20 pieces. Cookin time -20 minutes
