Leftover Rice Pakoda

What could be a better way to use those leftover rice than these super delicious and tasty rice pakoads. They taste amazing with tea.

Next time you won’t have to think about how to use the leftover rice. Just go ahead and make these leftover rice pakodas and your family will definitely love them.

My girls went crazy for these super crispy and very delicious rice pakodas. They just kept eating until all were finish.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups leftover rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon amchoor powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoon coriander leaves,chopped
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 2 tablespoon corn starch
  • 4 tablespoon water
  • oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl add leftover rice and water. Using the back of spoon or potato masher mash the rice.
  • Add the remaining ingredients except for oil and mix well until all ingredients combine.
  • Heat oil in a pan or wok. Make small lemon sized balls from the rice mixture.
  • Deep fry the rice balls until golden and crispy. Drain them on paper towel.
  • Serve hot with mint chutney.

Notes

Adjust the spices and salt as per your taste.
You may shape them into flat patties too. If you want them gluten free skip adding cornstarch.

  1. My mum used to make sometimes these leftover rice pakoda but with chana lot, I have not tried making it. Looks so inviting bas ek chai ki pyali ho ssath main to maza hi maza 😉

    This is an interesting recipe, making use of the leftover rice! The pakodas do look really enticing. Now that the monsoon is here, the evenings (especially those of the weekends) call for such hot and spicy pakodas.. What could be better than just sitting by the balcony and enjoying the rains, sipping hot tea and such pakodas. Thank you so much for the recipe 🙂
