Dish-Leftover Rice Pakoda
Rice Pakoda
What could be a better way to use those leftover rice than these super delicious and tasty rice pakods. They taste amazing with tea.
Ingredients
- 2 cups leftover rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chillies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon amchoor powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- salt to taste
- 2 tablespoon coriander leaves,chopped
- 1/4 cup rice flour
- 2 tablespoon corn starch
- 4 tablespoon water
- oil for frying
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl add leftover rice and water. Using the back of spoon or potato masher mash the rice.
- Add the remaining ingredients except for oil and mix well until all ingredients combine.
- Heat oil in a pan or wok. Make small lemon sized balls from the rice mixture.
- Deep fry the rice balls until golden and crispy. Drain them on paper towel.
- Serve hot with mint chutney.
Notes
Adjust the spices and salt as per your taste.
You may shape them into flat patties too. If you want them gluten free skip adding cornstarch.

This is an interesting recipe, making use of the leftover rice! The pakodas do look really enticing. Now that the monsoon is here, the evenings (especially those of the weekends) call for such hot and spicy pakodas..
