Lebanese Batata Haara

We are now around the middle of our one month long journey and with next letter “L” I have now been in Lebanon . Lebanon , with the beautiful city Beirut is one of the beautiful country of middle east.Lebanese cuisine is part of one of the ancient Egyptian , Syrian and Palestinian cuisine.


The cuisine mainly comprised of starch, whole grain, fruits, vegetables, fresh fish and seafood. Poultry is eaten more often than red meat. It also uses abundant amount of lemon juice , olive oil and coriander leaves.

I made this simple yet exotic Batata Haara , literally means spiced potatoes cooked with coriander or greens.So let’/s start the recipe .yum

Ingredients:
4 Potatoes,cubed
1 onion,chopped
2 garlic cloves,minced
1/4 cup coriander leaves , chopped
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Canola oil for frying
2 tablespoon olive oil

Method:
Heat oil in a frying pan , add the potatoes and fry them till golden from both sides.Drain on kitchen tissue and set aside.
In another pan , heat 2 tablespoon of olive oil and add onions and garlic. Stir for few minutes.
Now add coriander leaves , coriander powder , chilli powder and salt. Stir and add fried potatoes.
Cook for few minutes and then add pepper powder and lemon juice. Switch off the heat.

Transfer in serving bowl and serve warm with garlic sauce.
