Healthy and tasty pancakes made with spelt flour, raw cacao powder, and buttermilk. They taste amazing and are a huge hit with kids too.
Healthy Pancakes?
Well, basically panckaes are made with flour and sugar so not considered as healthy. In this recipe I made some healthy variations to make some healthy pancakes for our breakfast.
I have been looking for some healthy pancakes for a long time, there were some made with spelt flours, few recipes used buckwheat flours and or so. So I finally came up my own version and made these healthy pancakes with a combination of both spelt and buckwheat.
As the girls love everything chocolate so I added raw cacao powder too so they would look chocolaty and I won’t have to force them eating. They totally adored the pancakes and finished all just in no time. It was the Pancake Tuesday and I got a perfect healthy recipe that I can make whenever the girls would ask for pancakes.
I did not get a chance to store the pancakes as there were none left but I guess these can be frozen well for few days in freezer-safe bags. So if you are looking for a healthy pancakes recipe then this one is perfect for you.
Basic Ingredients for Pancakes:
The basic ingredients needed to make the healthy spelt pancakes are listed below.
- Firstly, Spelt and buckwheat flour-You may use any low carb flour you’d like.
- Sweetener-You can use maple syrup, honey or palm jaggery.
- Apple cider-Helps in rising the pancakes.
- Raw cacao-For a bit of dark chocolate flavor.
How to make Spelt Pancakes?
Just like you’d make any regular pancakes, mix the ingredients in a mixing bowl and make pancakes on a preheated skillet.
Serving Suggestions:
Use your favorite fruits, nuts honey and maple syrup as toppings.
