Everyday Lunch Thali with Toor Dal Fry– A very simple and basic toor dal fry which tastes amazing with some hot chapatis and or plain rice too.
Sometimes I have leftovers from previous night dinner which after some dainting painting I turn into a delicious and filling lunch.
In this thali I have had some plain rice leftover which I turned into peas rice, some leftover tindora fry, sprouted moong salad, and I made some fresh chapati and toor dal fry to make it a complete meal. I also served some fresh homemade yogurt.
My elder one would eat this kind of mini thali happily but it is a real task to feed the little one. She is a very picky eater and totally hates spices even if there is the tiniest amount. So she would not anything that looks spicy and will only have chapati with yogurt.
I am not sure how to make her try those things but I definitely need to start feeding her the everyday Indian style meals so she would start liking them. Well that’s is another list of thing I need to finish during this summer.

I love it when simple daal, sabzi, roti, chawal meal surrounded by raita, chutneys and pickles becomes a lovely mini buffet like this thali! I can totally relate to your dilemma – my elder one eats everything too but the younger one is still a fussy eater. I wonder if some kids have taste buds only for bland food!
The whole thali looks so tempting. The satisfaction that simple home made simple food can give, nothing can compare with that.
