Schezwan Fried Rice is spicy fried rice cooked with lots of vegetables and hot schezwan sauce. This is one of the popular street food in India.
Schezwan Fried Rice:
Schezwan fried rice is Indo- Chinese style fried rice cooked with vegetables in schezwan sauce. Now you can use homemade schezwan sauce or buy it from Asian grocery stores.
I always keep Schezwan sauce in my refrigerator and use it whenever required. It stays well for a month or so in the refrigerator and makes even a simple Chinese dish so exotic and wonderful. Ours is a Chinese dishes loving family and can have Chinese food anytime a day.
Basic Ingredients for Schezwan Fried Rice:
- First, Schezwan Sauce- Homemade or store bought.
- Rice-Pre cooked rice or leftover boiled rice.
- Vegetables-Use your favorite vegetables.
- Onion/Garlic and ginger-Makes the rice more flavorful.
How to make Schezwan Fried rice?
This is one easy rice dish that anyone can cook even beginners. First saute onion, garlic, and ginger in onions. Add vegetables and let them cook until a bit soft, mix in schezwan sauce, seasoning, and cooked rice. Stir and cook for a few minutes more and rice is ready to serve.
Variations:
The same recipe can be used to make veg fried rice, in that case instead of schezwan sauce add soy sauce and vinegar in rice. Add your choice of vegetables and pair it with Manchurian or any other Chinese gravy dish.

Schezwan Fried Rice
Equipment
- Pan
Ingredients
- 4 cups cooked rice
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (beans, carrots, cabbage, peas, sweet corn)
- 1 onion chopped
- 3-4 scallions chopped
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon ginger minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic minced
- 1/4 cup schezwan sauce
- 2 tablespoon peanut or sesame oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a big wok or pan and add ginger and garlic. Stir for a minute. Add chopped onions and scallions white.
- Saute for a minute. Add chopped vegetables and scallion greens.
- Stir and cook for a minute or two. Now add salt, pepper, and schezwan sauce. Mix well to combine.
- Add cooked rice and cook on high heat for few minutes stirring frequently. Remove from heat.
- Season with more salt and pepper if desired.
- Serve and enjoy.
