Rice is the most staple food all over the world. It’s the main food accompanied to Indian dishes as well. The method of preparation or presentation may vary but still it is the most loved food all over the country. In South India rice is cooked as it is and served with Sambhar , Kootu or any side dish . But in North India mostly rice is tempered with cumin seeds and served with Dals or gravy dishes . We mostly prefer it to be served with thin gravy dishes .
Today I am posting this very simple Jeera rice recipe , there is nothing fancy in it but still I want to post it . So let’s start the recipe. Yum
Ingredients:
2 teaspoon oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 cinnamon stick
3-4 cloves
3-4 peppercorn
1 bay leave
1 cup basmati rice
3 cup water
Salt to taste
Method:
Wash and soak rice in 1 cup water and set aside .
Heat oil in a pot or pan , add cumin , cinnamon , bay , peppercorn and cloves in it. Let them crackle a little.
Add rice and stir well for few minutes . Now add salt and 1 cup warm water.
Cover the lid and let it cook for7-8 minutes or till rice are done.
Serve hot with any curry or dal.
Serve-2. Cooking time-15 to 20 minutes
