Spicy Whole Wheat Crackers

Spicy and crispy whole wheat crackers are perfect and totally guilt-free snacks to munch on all day. These crackers are super easy to bake and stay well for a couple of days but I bet you they will be long gone before storing.

This week I am going to post recipes from my bookmarks which are an everlasting long list of recipes to try in my kitchen. Wheat crackers are adapted from Pavani’s Cooks Hideout and turned out really amazing. She originally used sprouted wheat flour but I replaced it with regular whole wheat flour as I couldn’t get the later.

Spicy and super crispy whole wheat crackers with herbs which make a wonderful and guilt free snack for any time a day.

Servings: 50 Crackers

  • 1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • rock salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, cold
  • 1/4 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground chilly flakes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  1. In a mixing bowl sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in dried seasonings and chilly flakes.

  2. Rub in cold butter until the flour resembles bread crumbs. 

  3. Add milk and knead a smooth dough. Cover and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line baking sheet with parchment paper.

  5. Divide the dough into two equal parts and roll out one part into a thin square. Cut out 2" square crackers from the sheet. Repeat the same with the second piece of dough.

  6. Transfer the crackers o the prepared baking sheet. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle more seasoning if desired.

  7. Bake in preheated the oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden in colour.

  8. Remove the crackers from oven and cool on wire rack. Store in air tight container.

  9. Serve and enjoy.

Recipe Notes

Make the crackers in round or square or your desired shapes.
