Date & Tamarind Chutney
Todays recipe is a Sweet and Sour Chutney/dip for Chaats , Pakoras , Salads , Namkeen , etc. A multipurpose mood enhancing preparation that will make you smile. If you have nothing left in the house you can eat it simply with chapati and it can be stored for longer period.
Filled with goodness of Dates , sourness of Tamarind and sweetness of Jaggery and is a perfect balanced sauce for any occasion.Hmmm I Am just loving it. Apply it on sandwich or plain bread slice and enjoy your simple food with great twist of taste. So let’s start the recipe . Yum
1/2 cup tamarind pulp
1/2 cup seedless dates
1/2 cup jaggery, ground
Salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon dry ginger powder/saunth
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon fennel powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
2 cups water
Take water , tamarind pulp , dates and Jaggery in a vessel . Bring it to boil and then simmer on low heat.

Add salt , Chilli powder, cumin powder,fennel powder and mix well.

Add dry ginger powder and cook again for 5 minutes or till you get the desired consistency.
Remove from heat , cool and store in refrigerator.
Serve as required. It may be used for 15 days if stored properly.
Sweet & Sour Chutney
Serve-4. Cooking time-25 minutes
Note:You may add chopped raisins and cashew nuts for twist in taste.
