In a pressure cooker heat ghee. Add cumin seeds, mustard, bay leaves, black cardamom, and cloves. Stir for a minute.
Add onions and saute for a few minutes until onions are golden.
Stir and add coconut, goda masala, and salt. Mix and add chopped tomatoes,green chilli, green beans, and peas. Let it cook on low until tomatoes are soft.
Finally, add washed and drained dal and rice along with 3 cups of water.
Cook for 2 whistles. Let the pressure release naturally.
Open the lid and serve the khichdi warm with any side dish.
Notes
You may add your choice of vegetables to the khichdi. If desired add more chilli to make it spicy.
