Aval dosa is a crispy and delicious dosa made with a fermented batter of rice, lentils and flattened rice. It tastes just amazing with peanut chutney and makes a wonderful breakfast, brunch or dinner recipe.
Wash rice and dal separately in running water and soak in mixing bowls with enough water to cover in.
Add some fenugreek seeds into the dal mixing bowl.
Let the rice and dal soak in water for at least 6 hours to overnight.
Wash aval with water until soft and add it to the soaked rice bowl.
Now grind the soaked dal and rice separately until a smooth batter is formed. Use water as required.
Once the batter is formed transfer it into a big mixing bowl and mix the dal and rice batter with your hands.
Preheat oven to 180 degrees for 10 minutes and then turn it off.
Keep the batter in a preheated oven for overnight.
Next day add salt in the batter and adjust the consistency of the batter with water.
Heat a dosa tawa and add a ladleful of dosa batter on it.Spread evenly with the help of spatula. Drizzle some oil or ghee on the edges.Cook until it is crispy and golden. Remove the dosa from tawa and serve with peanut chutney or sambhar.
