Malai Curry Recipe (+Video)

Easy under 10 minutes malai curry or fresh cream curry is a rich and delicious creamy dish that will bring your taste buds to another level.

What is Malai Curry?

Malai curry or cream curry is a very quick and easy Indian style cream dish that takes only under 10 minutes to prepare and tastes absolutely divine.

This curry needs only a few ingredients and would give a royal like taste experience. Pair it with your favorite flatbread like naan, paratha or chapati and enjoy.

So if you are having unexpected guests or running out of pantry options, this easy malai curry will definitely make a wonderful side dish.

In most of Indian households, the lady of the house would collect the milk cream which appears on boiled and cooled milk. That cream is later used to make fresh white butter.

Ingredients needed to make the Malai Curry

  • First, Fresh cream- Use store-bought fresh cream or the one you’s collect from boiled milk.
  • Tomato-For adding that tanginess in the malai curry.
  • Onions-To adds texture and flavors.
  • Green chilli-To balance heat in the cream curry.
  • Spices-Minimal spices like coriander, turmeric, red chili, garam masala, and salt.

How to make Malai Curry?

This is literally the easiest curry ever. It is going to blow your mind how easy and absolutely scrumptious this is.

First of all, brush your pan with a little bit of ghee to avoid sticking of onions. Now saute onions until they are slightly softer. Once onions are soft, add green chilies and tomatoes. Finally, add in the spices and cook the mixture until tomatoes are soft.

The last step is to add the milk cream and cook it on simmer until the curry is thickened as per your desired consistency or it leaves the ghee on the edges of the pan.

Garnish it with coriander leaves and enjoy. Wasn’t that the easiest dish ever?

Serving Suggestions

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup or 250 ml Fresh cream
  • 3 medium onions chopped
  • 3 medium tomatoes chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon clarified butter/ghee
  • few coriander leaves chopped

Instructions
 

  • Heat a pan and brush it with ghee.
  • Add onions and cook until slightly soft.
  • Now add tomatoes, stir and add coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder salt, red chilly powder.
  • Add fresh cream and sauté till cream leaves ghee or until it is thickened.
  • Add coriander leaves.
  • Serve as topping for bread, paratha, or eat as a curry with naan, roti or rice.
