Candy Apples

Candy Apples: Chewy candy outside and soft juicy apple inside who can resist these beautiful and delicious candy apples. I bet I won’t. This week I will be posting candies recipes for the 71st edition of Blogging Marathon’s first week. Candies happen to be everyone’s favourite either kid or adults? Whenever I feel like I would love to lick on some lollipops and candies with my girls and they are like you love candies and watch the cartoon with us and tells me that I sometimes behave like kids. This is so much fun and even Mr Husband sometimes joins us and we all would enjoy eating candies while watching kids programmes on TV.

The candy apple recipe is from a cookbook that I recently borrowed from the library called Home Grown Harvest which has delicious and exotic vegetarian recipes for the homegrown fruits and vegetables. The recipe is super easy to make and totally a kids favourite. Do try these luscious candy apples and enjoy the season with friends and family.

Dish– Candy Apples
Source– Cookbook

Ingredients:

6 golden delicious or red apples
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup golden syrup
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
few drops of red food colouring (optional)

Method:
Wash and dry the apples with a kitchen towel.
Press down the bamboo skewers or lollipop sticks inside each apple right in the centre over the twig.
Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a heavy bottom, saucepan adds sugar, water, golden syrup and red food colouring ,if using.
Bring it to a boil and then let it boil for about 10 minutes. Check for doneness by adding a drop of the syrup in water. If it forms a ball then the syrup is done.
Remove the syrup from heat and add lemon juice. Tilt the saucepan on one side and coat the apples in the syrup by swirling from each side.
Arrange them on the baking tray. Let the candy set for about 30 minutes. Once set remove from baking tray.
Serve and enjoy.
