Aloo choliya curry is one of the traditional and popular cuisine in India. The recipe taste really awesome and I love to cook this for my family who love this preparation more than anything.
It’s very healthy and tasty . So let’s start the recipe .yum
Ingredients:
3 medium sized potatoes, peeled and sliced
250 gm Horse gram (Choliya or hara chana )
2 onions
6 garlic cloves
1 ginger , small piece
3 tomatoes
4 green chillies
1/4 teaspoon Asefetida
2 era spoon cumin seeds
Spices
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chilly powder
2 teaspoon coriander powder
2 teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste
4 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
Water as needed
Method:
Wash , peel and roughly chop onions ,garlic , ginger tomatoes and chillies.Heat oil in a pan or pressure cooker add garlic , ginger and onions. Sauté till golden in color.keep the remaining oil in the cooker.
Take chopped tomatoes and chillies in food processor , drain out the fried onions mixture , add over the tomatoes in the food processor . Grind to form a smooth and fine paste . Keep aside.
To the remaining oil , add asefetida and cumin seeds .Sauté and add potatoes , stir for 5-7 minutes. Add all spices and salt , mix well.
Add the paste made above , sauté till oil comes out from edges.
Add horse gram , give a nice stir and add 1 litre water. Close the lid and cook for 3 whistles.
Open the lid , cook for another 5 minutes . Remove for heat add chopped coriander .
Serve hot with Chapatis.
Serve-4. Cooking time-30 minutes
Note: You may prepare the tadka in wok and then utransfer the whole ingredients in cooker later.
