Curd Rice /Thayir Sadam
1 cup cooked rice
1/2 cup Milk
1 cup plain Yoghurt/Curd
Salt to taste
A pinch Asafetida
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon Urad Dal/Split black gram
2 green chillies , chopped
5-6 cashew nuts , broken
10-12 curry leaves
1 teaspoon cooking oil
Boil the milk and keep aside. Mash the cooked rice with the help of back of spatula.
Add warm milk and salt and mash it again till soft and mushy.
Add beaten yoghurt in it and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan . Add asafetida mustard seeds , curry leaves , cashew nuts , green chillies and urad dal . Stir for a minute and pour this tempering over the mashed rice.
Mix well , cool and serve with pickle .
I served it with Sukhe Aloo.
